A Restart Rooted in Experience: My Journey of Falling, Learning, and Beginning Again

Not all journeys move in a straight line. Some rise, pause, fall, and then quietly restart—wiser, stronger, and more grounded. My story is one of those journeys.

With nearly two decades of experience in web technologies and digital solutions, I once ran an IT company successfully for five years. It was built with effort, long nights, client trust, and ambition. But external realities—global disruptions, regulatory changes, and the unprecedented impact of COVID—slowly dismantled what had taken years to create. Projects were lost, momentum faded, and eventually, the company had to be closed.

It was not just a business shutdown—it was a personal reset.

What followed was a phase many professionals go through but rarely speak about. Taking up employment after entrepreneurship. Carrying experience, yet feeling constrained. Working, learning, observing—but constantly questioning whether this was the final chapter or just an intermission.

Instead of giving in to stagnation, I chose learning.

Alongside work, I pursued and completed my Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. At the same time, my background in law (LLB) gave me a deeper understanding of systems, compliance, and real-world complexities entrepreneurs face. These weren’t just academic milestones; they were tools for rebuilding perspective.

Gradually, clarity began to return.

I realized that experience—especially difficult experience—is not a liability. It is capital. With that understanding, I took a bold decision: I quit my job. Not impulsively, but consciously. It was a restart—not from zero, but from experience.

That decision led to the birth of KANAKT MEDIA and the launch of 4Es, a platform rooted in Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Empowerment. The idea was simple yet meaningful: create content and conversations that help people think clearly, act responsibly, and grow sustainably.

Along the way, something beautiful happened. I began reconnecting—with people, ideas, and purpose. I met extraordinary individuals, built meaningful professional relationships, and started working with clients across legal consulting and technology domains. Each interaction reinforced one truth: genuine work always finds its way back.

Another milestone followed when I became a stakeholder in CoffiBar, witnessing firsthand how grassroots entrepreneurship, when driven by discipline and consistency, can scale into something impactful. It reaffirmed my belief that real businesses are built patiently, not magically.

Today, I stand not as someone who “made it,” but as someone who understands it—the cycles of business, the weight of decisions, the silence after failure, and the strength required to begin again.

This journey taught me that:

  • Losing a company does not mean losing capability
  • Taking a job does not diminish entrepreneurial spirit
  • Learning never stops, especially when life slows you down
  • Restarting is not weakness—it is wisdom

If there is one message I would share, it is this:
Life does not end when plans fail. Often, that’s when real clarity begins.

This is not the end of my story.
It is a restart—rooted in experience, guided by purpose, and open to possibility. – Suresh N
